Selection as “2023 Engineering Education Innovation Meritorious Person” by the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy

As the director of YU Engineering Education Innovation Center, great contribution in engineering education innovation and cultivation of engineering talents

The innovative achievements in engineering education of YU (President CHOI Oe-chool) were recognized externally.Professor KANG Dong-jin of YU Department of Mechanical Engineering (Director of YU Engineering Education Innovation Center) was selected as a person of merit in engineering education innovation in 2023 and received a commendation from the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy.

At the award ceremony held at “2023 Engineering Festival” on the 22nd and hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and managed by Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology and Engineering Education Innovation Council, those who have contributed greatly in innovation of engineering education and cultivation of engineering talent received awards from Engineering Education Innovation Center.

Professor KANG was accepted for expansion and development of engineering education accreditation system since 2008 by Educational Information Committee of Accreditation Board of Engineering Education of Korea, Accreditation Project Group, and Research Center, etc. and for his service as the director of YU Engineering Education Innovation Center since 2014 to develop and operate an innovative engineering education model. He has developed and has been operating GCDP (global capstone design program), which is an international engineering education model consisting of video lectures, team activities, and contests by Korea, Japan, and Thailand since 2020 and was accepted for contribution in future-oriented engineering talents by developing an education model combined with practice training through “ 1/5 Scale Self-Driving Car Contest for University Students” since 2022.

Professor KANG Dong-jin said, “This is a valuable achievement based on YU’s excellent engineering education infrastructure and know-how.I will continue to focus on developing and operating engineering education models to cultivate customized talents required by the industry.”
